One blue-skied, wintery day, we tried snowshoeing as a new winter fitness activity for 2017. Nickel Plate Nordic Centre is about an hour away from us and offers cross country skiing and snowshoeing. We were the only ones on the novice Gold Dust trail and the scenery was picture postcard perfect. When the sun shone through the trail, the snow sparkled like diamonds. It was magical. We got back to the lodge and had a picnic lunch by the big wood burning stove. What a great day.
I've heard a lot of comments about 2016 being a bust and people looking forward to a new year. At year end, we make a habit of reflecting and making a list of all the things we did last year. It's amazing how you forget your accomplishments, big or small. Then we make goals for the new year. I read you need to do something to make money, something for fitness, and something for creativity. New Year's resolutions can be well intended but short lived. Pick one goal. Think about breaking it down into small steps. What can I do today that helps me get there? Arnold Schwarzenegger turned down huge job offers that didn't help him towards achieving his goal of getting to Hollywood. Welcome the new year and new opportunities. May your 2017 be filled with fun adventures and abundant blessings.
That's my view from the deck.
