Many homes in Naramata are vacation rentals for the summer season. The house next door is no exception. Families come for their weekly stay, usually with children and dogs. One young family was in their second week of vacation. They were a young, active couple with a toddler. One day, the dad popped his head over the fence, introduced himself, and asked if we could do him a favour. They had decided to elope after years of being together and needed two witnesses. Could we meet them Monday night at the beach for a simple ceremony? Sure! I whipped up a cake, grabbed a lavender bouquet from the Lavender Shop, and Rick got a bottle of bubbly. (Im an event planner, I couldn't resist.) It was a lovely, magical evening and we were so honoured to witness it. Only in Naramata! I'm not sure this happens in the big city.
We rise by lifting others. In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
That's my view from the deck.
