I am so happy to say we are up and running! We have our fifth guests right now and it is great. I love it. I'm an event planner, and it's like making a mini special event every morning. It is so satisfying to get lovely comments back from our guests. There is nothing like job satisfaction.
There is a corner of our yard we call Quail Corner. We moved my truck canopy which was on the ground only to find a nest with eleven speckled eggs hiding under it. We didn't know if it was abandoned. We carefully built walls around it with old bricks and laid a wooden board on top for a roof. Sure enough, Mr. And Mrs. quail returned. She is a brave mother, unflinching when we lift the cover to peak if she is there, wings outstretched covering the eggs. He stands guard a few steps away, letting us know our boundaries. We can't wait to see the offspring. In the midst of our chaotic renovations, the circle of life quietly carried on. Mother Nature is awesome.
In this chapter of my life, I am a Bed & Breakfast owner, an Inn Keeper. Sometimes I ask myself "Did you ever think you would be here today?" Then I think of the words of one of my favourite actors "I would rather regret the things that I have done, then the things that I have not," Lucille Ball. Do it, take that chance you've been craving. Live with no regrets.
That's my view from the deck.
